Welcome Little Chick.

Last night a lovely friend of mine, who regularly buys my cards, asked me if I had a new baby girl card that she could have tomorrow (today). Mind you, this was 7 o'clock last night! I didn't have one either!! But being the lovely, obliging girl that I am I said I would make one for her. It also happened that the girls over at the Cupcake Craft Challenges are asking for "Strawberries & Cream" this week. Good! I can kill two birds with one stone so to speak.
So here is my entry to Cupcake Craft Challenges #96. My apologies for the poor picture quality. I took the photo last night and I couldn't find a good source of light.

Blingin' Wall Art.

Good morning everyone. Monday again!

I have had some Kaisercraft "Bloom" paper for ages and hadn't used it because the pattern was to big for cards but it was perfect for this canvas.

I adhered the paper to the canvas with PVA glue and the center panel is paper covered foamboard adhered to the canvas with double sided tape. I covered a wood flower and flourish (also Kaisercraft) with glitter to bling them up and added a a stamped butterfly, rhinestone flowers and ribbon.

It's now hanging above my daughter's bed but it would also look lovely on a mini easel don't you think?

The Crafty Pad Challenge 75.

Paper piecing is this weeks challenge over at The Crafty Pad and it seems that cakes are all the rage over there too. I'm going to use one of my not so traditional wedding cards to enter.

Good luck to everyone that enters!

You might also have noticed that I have reverted to my original 2 column layout. I have an old 17" monitor and it all looked great here at home but when I checked it out on a bigger monitor at work it was awful. Things hanging off the sidebars everywhere so back it went!

An Alternative To The 3M ATG.

I have coveted the 3M ATG since seeing it being used on various video tutorials and thought I'd check it out for myself. They are expensive and don't come with the glue tape so that has to be purchased separately. All up about $100.00. Admittedly, that gives you about 55m of glue but it's a lot of money isn't it? Also apparently it's quite complicated to reload. So what's the alternative I hear you ask? This is : The Glue Arts Glue Glider Pro. It looks prettier too. It does come with a glue cartridge already installed, so that's a bonus, and installing a new cartridge is as easy as popping out the old one and putting in the new one. There are a couple of widths to choose from as well and there is about 12m of tape on each one. The best bit is the price...under $20.00. I paid $17.95 online for mine and and I have found refill cartridges for as little as $12.00. I'm hooked on mine! They are super easy to use but, be warned, the adhesive is permanent and fast. You have to be absolutely sure where you want it because that's where it's going to stay!

Kaisercraft "Rewind" And Boy Cards.

Ah! Boy cards! So hard to do if you're like me and luuurve the pretty papers and lots of ribbony, flowery, sparkly embellishments. I find it very difficult to think "boy" especially when the card you agonised over is probably going to end up in the bin, unless, maybe, Mum rescues it. Even commercial cardmakers seem to suffer from a severe lack of imagination when it comes to cards for the opposite sex. All I ever see is the obligatory car, train, sailboat or sport cards.......boring!! I'm not even sure if these cards are entirely finished yet. I think they still need "something". I don't know yet what that something is. Maybe just a sentiment, maybe just some hardware but the more I look at them the more I think they need something else. I have also started to decorate the page of the card that you write on as well. I had never thought about it until I saw another card somewhere on the www with the inner page done. Now my cards look  more finished I think.

Happy Cardmaking

Hi Everyone!

I am absolutely loving my new home here on Blogger! I have had so much fun setting up. Choosing templates, banners, buttons, post dividers........too much eye candy for one person to consume!! I think I have finally settled on this one but, you never know. Susie Jefferson's blog 1st Floor Flat has been invaluable to me while I have been setting up this blog. As far as I can see there is nothing she doesn't know about Blogger blogging. My new HTML bible! And a very honourable mention has to go to The Cutest Blog On The Block. They have some absolutely fabulous background templates! Until next time...happy cardmaking!
